Education

Mrs. Youngren graduated in December of 2012 from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelors of Music Education after completing her student teaching with the Timberline High School choral program. She has two certifications; K-12 Choral Music and K-12 General Music. During her time at PLU, she sang with the Choir of the West, HERmonic A Cappella, University Chorale, University Singers, as well as the PLU Opera Workshop. Post-college, she enjoyed singing with the Olympia Choral Society, and occasionally was featured as a soloist. These experiences have all added to her passion for choral music and her desire to share it with her students. She is active in the professional music community as a member of the American Choral Director's Association.

Bio

Mrs. Youngren is excited to be here at Kittitas Elementary! She has spent the past three years as a choir teacher at Aspire Middle School for the Performing Arts in Lacey, WA. Though this is her first time as an elementary teacher, she looks forward to inspiring and fostering a passion for music in these capable students! The music classroom offers an opportunity for every student to be successful, and for every student to have their voice heard. Rehearsal and performance in music is a chance for students to create something beautiful that they would not have been able to do alone. It is Mrs. Youngren's goal to create positive experiences in music and singing for these students; experiences that they can take pride in, and share with their families and the Kittitas community.

Mrs. Youngren grew up in Stanwood, WA where she was involved in music from a very young age. Her music teachers have always had a strong, positive influence in her life and she actually met her husband in middle school band! They went on to sing together in choir throughout high school and college, and now enjoy playing duets together on piano and cello.
