Reena Calahan Staff Photo

I attended Central Washington University from 1995-1999.  I graduated in 1999 with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education.  I earned my Master's degree in 2004 from Walden University.

I have had the pleasure of teaching at Kittitas Elementary since September 2000.  I started out in a job share teaching position in 4th grade.  I worked at that grade level for three years.  I then moved to kindergarten (a full time position), and stayed there for four years.  Since then I have been at the 3rd grade level.  This is my ninth year teaching 3rd grade!!

My name is Reena Calahan. I was raised in the lower Yakima valley in Zillah, Washington. I graduated high school in 1986. I married my highschool sweetheart in 1989  We have three beautiful daughters (Samantha, Sareena, and Somer) who have all graduated from Kittitas!!  I have taught in the Kittitas School District for the past fifteen years, teaching in fourth grade, kindergarten, and now third grade. My husband and I moved here 22 years ago. He used to teach at Kittitas High School, teaching wood shop and drivers ed. Now he is a professor at CWU.   I love the Kittitas School District and enjoy teaching very much.

My mission is to create an enjoyable learning environment for my students. I believe all children learn in different ways. I will do all I can to make sure I reach each child and help them be the best student they can be. I want my students to have FUN learning. I believe they learn more when they are enjoying themselves.
